Wedding Hints, Tips and Facts

  • About a month before your wedding write out a time table of the day and make sure all wedding services know what time you expect them. Be realistic - they will probably be able to help you, they do this all the time. Photographers are an especially good source of information as they see all sorts of weddings and know the potential problems.
  • There is a FREE wedding planner, should you like one, when you contact me with a query!
  • If you are being married in a church with bells, and you are having them rung after the ceremony; remember that during this time, it is virtually impossible for the photographer to organise groups or be heard by anybody, therefore, more time must be allowed for photographs.
  • On the morning of the wedding, it may be tempting, but don't drink too much. Nerves and alcohol don't mix. Ladies - mind that lipstick on your glass getting transferred onto your dress. Guys - check there is some one around that can tie a cravat or Prince of Wales tie knot before the morning of the wedding!
  • Organise someone to take spare 'button holes' for other guests to the wedding venue.
  •  If you are using your own car or your relatives' car to transport you to the ceremony, make sure the keys are in a safe, obvious place - many a wedding has started late because the keys can't be found in all the upheaval!
  •  It might seem obvious, but don't forget the bride's flowers or the groom's 'button hole'! (I have attended at least 10 weddings where this has happened - so it does!)
  •  It is 'illegal' to photograph the actual register of marriages - hence the mock up is usually done after the signing. It's much easier for the photographer to organise the wedding party and flowers in a small space after the signing, anyway!
  • Talking of registers, everyone calls it a 'Registry Office', its proper title is 'Register Office' or just 'Registry'!
